How San Antonio Weather Affects Your Stucco

San Antonio sits at the crossroads of several climate factors that make it one of the most demanding environments for exterior building materials in the United States. With summer temperatures regularly exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit, humidity from the Gulf of Mexico, and intense UV radiation year-round, stucco systems face a constant barrage of environmental stress.

Thermal expansion is one of the biggest challenges. When temperatures swing from 60 degrees at night to over 100 degrees during the day, stucco expands and contracts repeatedly. Without proper expansion joints and flexible sealants, this daily cycling leads to hairline cracks that allow moisture to penetrate behind the surface.
